PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
D.I.N.K.s (Double Income – No Kids) is a contemporary dark comedy about a struggling freelance writer who finds success when he begins writing articles about couples who don’t want children and the bias and discriminating behavior of the parents in the predominately, family-oriented community where he and his wife live.

Leading Roles – We are looking for actors with good verbal comedic timing and expression
Supporting Roles – There are several adult and child speaking roles in addition to the ones listed.
Featured Extra’s – Extra’s of all kinds will be needed for many scenes

CHARACTERS
RICHARD BROOKS (35-45 Male )
Frustrated freelance writer. Good sense of humor. Soft spoken until pushed to his limits becoming crazed and obsessed with his cause.
RACHEL BROOKS (30-40 Female )
Hard working Legal Secretary. Career minded. Doesn’t want children even though her mother expected her to have grandchildren. She loves her husband and is supportive of his ambitions.
MAYOR FERGUSON (50-65 Male )
Mayor of a small family oriented suburb of Chicago. Always watching the bottom line (money). Can be politically revengeful when crossed. Sports a mostly superficial personality.
CARLOS (30-40 Male )
Richard’s Coffee House buddy. Married and divorced 3 times with 5 kids. Care free to a fault. Always giving advise (not necessarily good).
SKYLAR (25-35 Male )
The obnoxious next door neighbor. Likes to party, swear, drink, and do drugs, yet thinks he is the perfect role model for his children.
SIERRA HAGGERTY (18-21 Female )
A young woman about to be married whose determination not to ever have children makes her a huge fan of Richard’s D.I.N.K.’s articles. Head strong but a little “spacey”.
CHARLES (25-35 Male )
He is the Mayor’s aide, who is constantly watching over his daily schedule. He is Gay and his mannerisms are feminine. Fast talking, observant and dutiful.
SARAH FERGUSON (40-50 Female )
The Mayor’s wife. Always the model wife and mother. She spoils her daughter and can be extremely defensive.
BETH (55-65 Female )
Rachel’s mother, who has always wanted grandchildren but is hurt by Rachel’s decision never to have children.
